Keep Houston Beautiful/249 Clean Up Day

As part of the Keep Houston Beautiful initiative, we are organizing a community cleanup along 249 Access Rd. and 1960, and we invite you to join us in making our district a cleaner, healthier place for everyone!In recent years, our district has struggled with maintaining a clean and healthy environment, receiving a F in environmentalism. But we can change that! Keeping our roads, neighborhoods, and public spaces free of debris is vital not only for the beauty of our community but for the health of the environment and all who live here. Regular cleanup days like this are an important step toward fostering a cleaner, healthier district.

 

Why is this important? When our neighborhoods are littered with debris, it harms more than just the appearance of the area. Trash and pollution can:- Damage plant life and disrupt local ecosystems. Harm wildlife, both on land and in water, who may ingest or become trapped in litter. Pose health risks to humans, including contamination of water sources, attraction of pests, and increased risk of injury. Pollute the environment, leading to long-term damage to the air, water, and soil quality.
While some areas have homeowners associations (HOAs) to help maintain a clean environment, many parts of our district do not. It’s essential that we all take responsibility and teach our youth and families to take action in keeping our communities clean. By working together, we can create a regular initiative that ensures our roads, neighborhoods, and public spaces are clean and healthy year-round.This cleanup is just the beginning. It’s an opportunity to show the importance of environmental responsibility and encourage a lasting culture of cleanliness and care for our district.

Time 7:30am-9am

Location: 249 Access Rd. and 1960  Meet in SAMS parking lot.

Supplies & Water Provided:All participants will receive cleanup supplies, and water will be available. Tasks will be available for all ability levels.We look forward to seeing you at this community-driven event. Let’s come together to take care of our district and set an example for future generations.
