Let’s talk about something we can all relate to—small businesses. In Texas District 126, our local businesses are the heart and soul of our community. From the corner taco spot that knows your order by heart to the boutique that always has something unique, these businesses shape our daily lives. And guess what? They’re doing more than just serving great food and unique products—they’re driving our local economy. But it’s not all smooth sailing.
Small business owners are facing real challenges like rising rent prices, stiff competition, and hurdles when trying to access loans or business grants.
Despite that, they push through every day, creating jobs and keeping the district buzzing with activity. And the community support? It’s real. People here show up for local businesses in ways that matter—by shopping local, spreading the word, and helping them grow. That’s why I’m hopeful that with a little more financial support and perhaps some business development zones, we can give our small businesses the boost they need to not just survive but thrive.
Let’s continue to support and celebrate the small businesses that make District 126 a place we love to call home!
