Celebrating Hispanic Business Owners: Key Drivers of Texas’ Strong Economy

As the second-largest state in the U.S. and a hub of diversity and innovation, Texas owes much of its economic strength to the entrepreneurial spirit of its Hispanic business community. Hispanic businesses are flourishing in Texas, making significant contributions to the state’s economy. In fact, Texas is home to more than  571,000 Hispanic-owned businesses, and these businesses are a critical component of the workforce. The impact is so immense that Texas holds the distinction of being the #1 state for jobs created by Hispanic business owners.  

Hispanic-owned businesses in Texas generate over $100 billion in revenue annually.  They employ more than 2.5 million people statewide, underscoring their crucial role in driving employment opportunities. Nationally, Texas has the highest percentage of Hispanic-owned employer businesses, making up nearly 25% of all employer businesses in the state.  

Right here in Texas District 126, the impact of Hispanic businesses is evident in the strength and diversity of our local economy. Hispanic business owners contribute to a wide range of industries, from small family-owned restaurants and retail shops to large construction companies and tech startups.

District 126 has seen consistent growth in Hispanic-owned enterprises, with approximately 25% of local businesses being Hispanic-owned. In this district alone, Hispanic business owners have created an estimated 12,000 jobs, further fueling our local economy and providing opportunities for residents across all communities.
